Abstract :
Fiber-optical microendoscopy has recently been an essential medical diagnostic tool in exploring tissue in vivo due to high-quality imaging performance, compact size, high-speed imaging, and flexible movement. Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) based endoscopes have been playing a key role in miniaturization of fiber-optical endoscopy for over 20 years. In this paper, both review and technology outlook of MEMS based fiber-optical microendoscopy for real-time in vivo disease diagnosis and microsurgery will be provided.
