  • Abstract
    The authors demonstrate a low-loss 3 dB directional coupler for use in balanced coherent receivers for lightwave communications. The device exhibits 1.6-1.7 dB insertion loss and better than 52:48 splitting ratio at 1.54 mu m wavelength.
