Abstract :
A transducer can be regarded as an array of elementary radiators whose performance can be described by a primitive scattering matrix. The overall performance of a composite transducer can be calculated by matrix methods from the primitive matrices of its elementary radiators. The method is used to calculate the performances of simple delay lines, unidirectional transducers, and delay lines using unidirectional transducers. Expressions are also obtained for the elements of the primitive scattering matrix in terms of the components of a simple equivalent circuit.
