Abstract
As a muscular contraction is sustained, the spectrum of the myoelectric signal is shifted toward the lower frequencies. This spectral shift is associated with localized muscular fatigue. This communication describes a computer-assisted device, the Muscle Fatigue Monitor, that performs a quantitative assessment of localized muscular fatigue by tracking changes in the median frequency parameter of the myoelectric signal´s spectrum.
