Abstract
There is a continuously increasing number of electrical installations designed to operatefrom a normal ´mains´ system that are called upon, from time to time, to operate from a standby or emergency generator. Due to the different natures of these two forms of electricity supplies it is by no means certain that the requirements for electrical safety can be complied with. The article investigates this problem and questions the present methods of specifying generators
