Abstract :
Gas chromatography has for long been used to analyse gases dissolved in insulating oil which are generated as fault conditions develop, but it is an expensive laboratory-based technique. A rugged low-cost continuous monitoring device known as the Hydran system has been developed, and has been exhaustively tested in field use in North America
