Abstract :
We consider the problem of estimating the algebraic spectral moments of an extended target in a radar with uniform linear array (ULA). A new algorithm is proposed which is based on the series representation of the covariance matrix [1] and a least-squares fit on the elements of the covariance matrix [2]. The method is shown to provide accurate estimates of the spectral moments. The estimate realization does not need a priori knowledge of the receiver noise power.
