Abstract :
The design of a microcomputer system for the domestic-appliance market must emphasise simplicity of use, while providing a range of options for differing end products. The paper outlines a cooker clock unit now in production, and goes on to describe the incorporation, in a later unit, of on-chip control of oven temperature. This employs a novel technique which avoids the need for true analogue-to-digital, or digital-to-analogue conversion, while providing accurate control to a precision of 5¿¿ in 300¿¿
