Abstract :
A recurring problem in feedback control theory is the determination of a system transfer function (as a Laplace transformed function of s), starting from a block diagram of the system. One commonly used method of achieving this result is to construct a signal-flow graph of the block diagram and then use reduction techniques. The author describes a program for making this reduction using MATLAB. The program is easy to use and does not require the user to have a detailed knowledge of the MATLAB program. The program provides pole-zero cancellation to reduce the transfer function to its simplest form.
