Abstract :
On the April 23, 2005, a meeting was held at the Kharkiv National Uni.versi.ty of Radio Electronics (KNURE), in celebration of the 85th birthday and 60 years of scientific-pedagogical activity of Prof. Yakov S. Shifrin, a well-known scientist in the field of radio physics and applied electromagnetics. Many guests gathered in to take part in the ceremony from all over Russia. Numerous official congratulations from difffrent orgarizations, institutes, scientific research institutes, and scientific communities followed. After the Council finished, a long meeting of Prof. Shifrin with his disciples and students of the University took place, wherein his guests also participated. During the conversation, Prof. Shifrin told them about some interesting events of his life, about his views of a number of scientific and worldly affairs, and gave advice and wishes to the young people. Some biographical notes about Prof. Shifrin are included.
