Abstract
PV development in Argentina was provided with an initial `window of opportunity´ by the Argentine Law 26190 `National Promotion for the use of renewable sources of energy in the production of electricity´ [2006], which promoted the use of renewable energy sources to reach 8% of the Argentinean energy matrix (excluding hydro) by 2016. However, the development pace of PV has been slower than expected, with renewable energy sources having currently a small share in the electricity matrix, with 0.4% of the total energy generation. This paper analyses the main difficulties in the Argentine PV industry, its current status and potential.
