Abstract
Radar research in New Zealand, which was motivated by the need to defend its long coastline during World War II, is summarized. Use of radar for coast watching, coastal defense, ship warning gunnery, and long-range air warning is described. Work carried out for the Royal New Zealand Air Force and work on microwave radars are examined.<>
