Abstract :
This communication is an extension of previous work which reported that the use of a basic finite element formulation improves the accuracy over that obtainable with integral equations, and that the improvement in accuracy is particularly notable for inverse estimation. Recent results indicate that a judicious choice of triangular subdivisions combined with the utilization of Radon integration to evaluate the contributions of each of these smaller triangles produces integral equation formulations with accuracy roughly comparable to that obtained using finite element formulations.
