Abstract :
A novel method for time-scale compression based on a time-varying time-scale ratio is developed, with the ratio determined by the short-term energy of the signal. The target operating area of the technique is in very low ratio time-scale compression, where it is shown that improvement in perceptual quality is achievable at low computational complexity.
