H.V. Power Supplies for Tokamak Neutral Beam Injectors

Neutral Beam Injectors need HV power to accelerate the ions produced by the ion sources. To satisfy future demands for higher voltages and currents a modular design is necessary to obtain the required values by series/parallel operation of modules. A survey is given of properties and possibilities. Apart from regulating transformers and thyristors for voltage control a tetrode in the primary circuit is considered as an attractive alternative.
