Abstract
An introduction to parallel processing for the electromagnetic analyst is presented. Scaled speedup is explained, and the use of SIMD (single instruction, multiple data) and MIMD (multiple instruction, multiple data) machines is discussed. Methods of electromagnetic field computation (method of moments, finite-difference time domain, finite-element method, spectral iteration) are broadly surveyed to indicate which characteristics make them amenable to parallel processing and which architectures are best suited to those characteristics
