Abstract :
Dynamic hysteresis loops, produced in oriented 3% silicon steel by peak flux densities in the range 1.4¿1.8 T, are predicted by simple formulas. The formulas recognise the two separate parts of the loops, a hysteresis part and an eddy-current part. This latter depends on the rate of flux-density change and also on the actual flux density. Good agreement with measured loops is found, both for sinusoidal waveforms and distorted waveforms producing minor hysteresis loops.
