Abstract :
In this work, the use and control of Current Source Inverter (CSI) based grid tied PV systems is explored. Two power topologies - the conventional CSI and an Augmented CSI (ACSI) are considered for this purpose and their performances are compared. A novel space vector based PWM approach is implemented as appropriate to the two systems for proper control of Maximum Power Point operation and injected ac power. Simulation studies are presented. It is seen that the ACSI is able to provide grid current with lesser distortion and reasonable filter size.
