Abstract
A method for separating biological isotopes such as X-and Y-chromosome bearing spermatozoa has been attempted. The separation is accomplished by producing a thermal convection counter-stream within a sedimentation column containing a "Universal Medium"®with spermatozoa suspended therein, and subsequently allowing the two classes of spermatozoa to differentially sediment into separate fractions. Electro-positive and negative potential is applied to facilitate more efficient separation than previously reported.
