Abstract
This paper proposes a novel method for constructing ultra wide band (UWB) pulses based on a linear combination of Gaussian pulses. These pulses while meeting FCC power spectral density (PSD) mask requirements insure negligible interference with narrow band (NB) systems using flexible interference avoidance property they possess. Improved performance is achieved when errors due to imperfect synchronization exist between the transmitter and receiver (timing jitter). The coefficients of pulses designed can be generated using simple delay elements and amplifiers. The performance of these pulses in multipath channel such as channel model 1 (CM1) with timing jitter is evaluated by simulation and is found to be better than that of other designs.
