Abstract :
Many of the large detector systems that have been built or are presently under construction have been designed by scaling up designs suitable for smaller experiments. The author discusses some areas where such straightforward scaling can lead to unforeseen difficulties, namely, power distribution, grounding, cables, and detector deadtime
