Abstract :
The paper presents a new drive for single-phase induction motors. This drive employs a DC chopper circuit with a diode bridge rectifier connected with the stator in a nonconventional fashion. The speed of the single-phase induction motor is controlled by controlling the chopping frequency of the chopper switch. The attractive feature of the drive is that it effects both frequency and phase-angle control simultaneously. The drive performance has received both theoretical and experimental investigation
