Abstract :
A wave analyzer capable of measuring noise spectra in the video-frequency range is described. Part I of the paper discusses requirements in noise-analyzer design. Part II is a detailed description of a practical instrument. A frequency range of 50 kc to 10 Mc is covered, without bandswitching, at virtually constant sensitivity. The width of the analyzing pass band, 33 kc, remains constant over the measuring range. The lowest spectral level that can be measured is 7 microvolts per root kilocycle.
