Abstract
The authors present room temperature four-wave mixing experiments on a subpicosecond timescale at the band edge of bulk GaAs integrated into microcavities. In the cavity, the diffraction efficiency η≃8×1-3 is enhanced by approximately a factor of 20 at 890 nm compared to bulk GaAs without cavity. This result shows the potential capability of microcavities for reducing the switch energy of many all-optical devices
