Abstract :
Serious aging society is very severe problem in the world. We aim at developing a safety system to support the aged people. Toilet danger detection system (TDDS) is a part of the safety system, which detects the danger and announces the information to outside people. Toilet is a small place for special needs. If there is a dangerous zone in the toilet, it will be more dangerous for aged people than young people. Toilet danger detection system presented in this paper uses a camera to take the toilet photos and uses image processing technique to detect the dangers for aged people. To detect the people edge, the image processing module calculates the difference between the initial toilet photo without people and the taken photo with people. When people edge is located in the dangerous zone, the danger information will be sent. According to experimental results, the proposed system successfully detected the dangers.
