Abstract
The authors put forward a convexity property that significantly improves the efficiency of the branch-and-bound techniques often used to solve optimal design problems for finite-work-length linear-phase FIR (finite-impulse response) digital filters. The property can be used to reduce the number of nodes in the tree search procedure. Results of computational experiments are included
