Abstract :
The author comments on the paper 5869A (see ibid., vol.135, no.8, p.523-7) which addresses the basic question of the nature of the four electromagnetic field vectors and of the terminology used to designate them. He suggests that the omission of D and/or H vectors for presenting electromagnetism is not advisable. In his reply J.C.G. Field maintains that one should always try to present electromagnetism in the most simple and physically direct manner in order to reduce the difficulties of both students and engineers.<>
