  • Abstract
A forum which maximized the opportunity for discussing a limited number of specific and specified topics was held June 28-30, 1978, at Allerton House, Monticello, IL, USA, the conference center retreat of the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign. It was pointed out at the beginning of the meeting to the more than 40 attendees that William J. Fry, a pioneer in ultrasonic biophysics, had run three similar conferences at Allerton House and that, perhaps, a very important tradition was continuing. The format consisted of three morning and two evening sessions with the afternoons available for generalized, unorganized discussions with colleagues. Selected, invited topical papers were presented at each session to initiate discussion. The topics and authors are listed and briefly described.
