Summary form only given. The Administrative Committee of the IEEE Group on Sonics and Ultrasonics takes great pleasure in announcing the selection of the Best Paper published in the 1978 IEEE Transactions on Sonics and Ultrasonics. The Best Paper Award of the G-SU for 1978 is awarded to Martin D. Fox, author of the paper titled "Multiple Crossed-Beam Ultrasound Doppler Velocimetry." This paper was published in the September 1978 issue. This selection was made because the paper "presented a clever solution to a long-standing problemo f measuring the vector representing fluid flow and was very well supported by theory and experiment." The author of the Best Paper received a cash prize and a plaque to commemorate this achievement. These were presented at the 1979 Ultrasonics Symposium, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
