Abstract :
An approximate closed formula for the mean cycle slip time of a synchroniser with triangular type phase detector is derived. The worst case error of the derived formula is within 10% for the loop SNR α<12. Numerical results obtained are compared to those for the multiplier phase detector at the same loop SNR
