Abstract :
The accurate assessment of distortion in intermediate-frequency amplifiers and the possibilities of compensation assume importance for the development of frequency-modulated very-high-frequency multi-channel equipment with its concomitant wide bandwidths. The present purpose is to furnish graphical data for the evaluation of phase and amplitude distortion arising from various types of coupling network including compensating combinations, to demonstrate a graphical procedure for accurate design, and to summarize the analysis on which the graphical treatment is based. Sets of nomograms and curves provide for the assessment of performance as represented by gain times bandwidth, and for the interpretation of equation parameters in terms of circuit parameters.
