Abstract :
The use of an information-feedback procedure, called "feedback averaging," is applied to an M -ary polarization-modulated laser communication system. The systems with and without feedback, which are limited by photon fluctuation, are considered and compared. A significant improvement in error rate of a system with feedback is demonstrated over a one-way system for a quarternary system subject to intensity constraint.
