Abstract :
Tunable Q-switched operation of an erbium-doped fluorozirconate fibre laser around 0.99 mu m has been demonstrated. An intracavity prism and a rotating mirror were used to tune and to switch pulses of 120 ns duration and 10 W peak power at a repetition rate of 50 Hz. Tuning over 23 nm with output powers up to 10 mW and 4% overall efficiency is also reported for CW operation.
