Abstract :
Extensions of field-oriented control methods for induction machines, accounting for magnetic saturation, are developed. The new methods are based on a nonlinear π model for the saturated machine. This model is a more accurate representation of the saturation phenomena in the machine than are most previous models, and it is shown to also facilitate development of control algorithms. Observers for estimating rotor flux are also discussed. Experimental results verifying operation of one proposed control method are presented
