Abstract :
A Cs vapour laser using Freon-14 as the buffer gas has been demonstrated. All operating parameters of this laser (threshold, output power, slope efficiency) are similar to a Cs laser operating with an ethane buffer gas. No contamination of the gain medium was observed at operating temperatures below 100 degC, while at higher temperatures such contamination appears and leads to lasing degradation.
