Abstract :
ATM switches based on shared buffering are known to have better buffer utilisation. However, in the presence of hot spot traffic, buffers become monopolised in favour of hot output. The authors present the effect of buffer monopoly in a shared buffer switch and discuss the solutions to this phenomenon
