Abstract :
The addition of a bandpass filter following the VCO in a conventional PLL (phase-locked loop) has already been proposed as a means of reducing jitter. The author provides an analysis to verify and quantify this approach and concludes that jitter may be reduced by a factor π/2Q, where Q is related to the selectivity of the bandpass filter employed
