Abstract :
Tensor properties of second-harmonic generation in optically encoded semiconductor-microcrystallite-doped glasses are measured and shown to be consistent with encoding of a DC electric field in the glasses. Semiconductor bandgaps 20 nm above and below the second-harmonic wavelength exhibit the expected deviation from Kleinman symmetry.
