Abstract :
A method is presented for the recursive calculation of the best fitting polynomials for an image block, from the polynomial coefficients of its four sub-blocks. This algorithm is based on orthogonal polynomials and requires considerably few calculations than both direct (nonrecursive) methods and nonorthogonal recursive methods.
