Abstract :
A novel method for optical pulse generation that uses an optical frequency shifter (OFS) in a fibre loop circuit is proposed. An optical phase-locked loop circuit is used to control the drive frequency of the OFS and cancel the fluctuation in fibre loop length. Picosecond pulse generation is demonstrated successfully at various repetition rates.
