Abstract :
A lithium niobate 1*16 optical switch matrix with integral hybrid drive electron is is reported. The integral circuit provides the necessary biasing and control of the switches allowing matrix operation from TTL. The assembled module exhibited fibre-fibre insertion loss 7.5 dB, extinction ratio of 27 dB and capacitance limited switching speed of 4.5 ns at 1300 nm. The optical switch drive voltage was 5.2 V.
