Abstract
A prototype busgun design is presented capable of launching a 15 MJ projectile with only 7 MJ provided by an external electric source. The busgun is an electromagnetic launcher implementing a novel electromagnetic chemical propulsion concept. A built-in nonexplosive magnetic flux compression generator and other innovations distinguish it from conventional railguns. Major design features and parameters are discussed and estimated for a particular busgun example. The busgun operation cycle is described. Energy and flux losses are considered, as well as scaling.<>
