  • Abstract
Advances in electric drive components has made integrated electric drivetrains a reality in various military and commercial vehicles. These components promise not only propulsion system benefits but offer unique opportunities for advanced pulse power systems such as electric guns and launchers. Heretofore, the bulk of development attention has been paid to the actual pulse, power and electric gun components. However, their successful integration into a viable tactical vehicle mandates a synergistic approach to combining the propulsion system requirements with those of the pulse power system. To this end high performance electric drivetrain components perform an essential part of this integration. This paper describes the rationale of power train management and the current demonstrated state of the art of various drivetrain components.<>
