Abstract :
Self-reported behavioral data is used in many studies, but lack of accuracy may invalidate conclusions. A study on user guidance mechanisms demonstrates how subject responses differ significantly from the data collected through system logs. Indications are that data collection via observation, logs, or formal records may be worth the extra time and expense
