Abstract
In array signal processing, signal number detection is a necessary step for high resolution directions-of-arrival (DOA) estimation. With the assumption of spatially white noise, several methods have been proposed for detecting both coherent and incoherent signals. A new parametric signal number detector for unknown noise environments is proposed. The new detector is suitable for both coherent and incoherent signals
