  • Abstract
    The city is supposed to be densely populated, industry and commerce developed, residents in non-agricultural population dominated in the areas. With the increase of population, economic growth and social development, urban land use type has changed. During 2005 and 2010 the changes and transfers of land use type in Changsha which has two periods including 5 years has been valued by the remote sensing and GIS technology. The results suggest that the land use type has changed in Changsha from 2005 to 2010. Impervious surface, vegetation, and bare ground increased the proportion, the proportion of impervious surface has been increased the most, the proportion of rural and water has been dropped, the proportion of rural has been dropped the most. From 2005 to 2010, among the impervious surface, vegetation, water, bare ground and rural in Changsha has occurred mutual transfer. The geographical location, economic growth and population development was the cause of the types of land use change in Changsha City from 2005 to 2010.
