  • Abstract
In round terms and round figures, 16 million personal computers will be sold in the United States in 1995 and a further 34 million worldwide. Workstation sales will add a million units more. The author considers how some of the new and emerging technologies could generate steep function improvements and upheavals in the PC and workstation industries. Interaction and increasing overlap with other industries, such as telecommunications, consumer electronics, entertainment, and publishing, will suggest many opportunities and innovative products. Technologies discusses include: PowerPC, client server systems, Internet, and electronic mail
