Abstract
The author describes technological developments in 1994 in the transportation sector. Topics covered include: new electronic systems that warn of maritime dangers and potential collisions; the Channel Tunnel, or Chunnel, a British-French joint venture, which began operations after more than 12 years of planning and construction; how high-speed rail legislation bogged down in the US Congress resulted in the delay of the Texas Supertrain project; and how, while Tokyo´s “floating airport” opened, Denver´s new airport suffered from a failure to its automated baggage handling system
