Abstract :
Virtual participation (VP) is an exciting new development for the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2009, which is being held in Boston in June. Although there is no substitute for the live onsite experience, our hope is that the VP delivery of information will enhance the experience of the conference and fuel further collaboration among researchers, scientists, and engineers. Everyone who is interested in microwaves, whether an IEEE Member or not, will be able to benefit from VP. It will enable attendees as well as those unable to attend the conference in person the unique opportunity to purchase and view a subset of the technical presentations, workshops, and short courses. If you are an IMS attendee and you miss something because of a program conflict, VP will let you see what you missed and give you a more comprehensive experience. If you are not able to physically make it to Boston this June, VP will give you the opportunity to take part in some of the programs. The IMS planning committee will also be providing free viewing of the MicroApps and plenary session for those who might not have been able to attend these events.
