Abstract
This article is written for the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the engineer´s society of western Pennsylvania, USA. Companies in the western Pennsylvania area, where coal is the primary fuel for power generation, are at a cost advantage compared to competitive fuels such as nuclear or renewable. One of the most important developments in industry in western Pennsylvania is interconnections and EHV. The interconnection were synchronized and closed successfully, thereby connecting resources in the west to the loads in the east.
